Android beta

Try it before the Play Store does.

The listing is in review. Until it clears, you can install LoanShark straight from here.

Version 1.0.0 · Android 8 and up

Sharky, the LoanShark mascot, looking waving

Three taps, one scary warning.

  1. 1

    Download

Tap the button above on your Android phone. Chrome will ask you to confirm the file; say keep.

  2. 2

    Allow the install

Open the file. Android will say it cannot install apps from this source. Tap settings, switch your browser on, then go back.

  3. 3

    Open it

Tap install, then open. Add your first loan and Sharky starts watching it. Nothing needs an account.

What you can try

  • Loans you are paying, with the payroll schedule generated for you
  • Collections: who owes you, what they promised, what came back
  • Payments, receipts, reminders and the Sharky feed
  • Reading a whole loan list off a photo with the camera
  • Everything works with your phone in airplane mode

What is rough

  • Moving to the Play Store later will not keep your data. The Play copy is signed differently, so Android makes you uninstall this one first, and that deletes the ledger. Treat the beta as a trial run, not the place to keep the loans you actually rely on.
  • Sharky+ cannot be bought on this build. Play Billing only works on a copy installed from the Play Store, so every paid feature stays locked at the free tier — including the encrypted backup that would otherwise carry your data across.
  • Free tier limits still apply: three loans and three people who owe you.
  • Updating means downloading the new file and installing over this one. There is no auto-update outside the Play Store.
  • The community board needs a connection. Every other screen does not.

A screenshot and one line about what you expected is enough. Cover the amounts if you would rather not share them.
